How it works
1
Thermoplastics shrink
All FDM materials contract as they cool from extrusion temp to room temp. The rate depends on the polymer.
2
We scale up
The formula: compensated = target / (1 - shrinkage). A 50mm part in ABS at 0.7% becomes 50.35mm in CAD.
3
Actual shrinkage varies with print temp, cooling, infill, and part geometry. Use these values as a starting point, then dial in with test prints for critical fits.
